My name is Chelsey Henson and I teach 1st grade at Microsociety in the Jonesboro Public School district. This is my 7th year of teaching. I have lived in Jonesboro all of my life. I went to Jonesboro Public Schools from kindergarten to 12th grade; so I am a Hurricane alumnus! I went to college at Arkansas State University where I graduated December 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood. I am a third generation teacher for the Jonesboro Public Schools. My mother teaches at Health, Wellness and Environmental Studies and my great-grandmother taught at the old North school. Therefore, I am very passionate about JPS!
I am married to a wonderful man, Shug Henson. I have 2 step-daughters; Hannah, 12, and Haven, 9, and a daughter Lily, 1. We spend most of our weekends at the ball-field playing softball. We love being active!
Another one of my passions is sports. I have been involved with sports since the age of 3 and still continue to play today. Today I play softball, volleyball, and tennis. I feel that kids and adults can learn great character building through the play of sports. In my classroom,we learn about goals, teamwork, hard work, and never giving up! My students know that each member of our team is going to be there to help them when they need it; as well as, be there for each of their teammates. I hope that students will apply this theory to everyday life.
I hope to teach my students academically as well as about life. I feel that children need to learn life skills throughout their years in school. It is my responsibility to help them in every way possible! I am looking forward to interacting with each student this year!
Get Ready for a WINNING year!
